Arte della Laguna Video Series

In the latest episode of Pratt in Venice's new video series, Professor of Printmaking and Drawing Fay Ku discusses Venice – especially the basilica of San Marco – as a culture of encounters, and reflects on the ways her encounter with Venice has helped her conceive new working practices as an artist.

In this installment of Pratt in Venice's new video series, faculty member and art historian Joseph Kopta explores a small composite object in the Treasury of San Marco, along with issues of spoliation, reuse, and construction of identity.

In Pratt in Venice's second installment of its new video series, Director and Professor of Art History Diana Gisolfi introduces the work of artist Paolo Veronese and his decade-long project at San Sebastiano, as well as recent conservation efforts there.

In the series debut, Professor of Painting Michael Brennan muses on missing Venice this summer, how the history of Venetian painting has informed his teaching and practice, and reflects on how he has kept Venice alive at home in Gowanus, Brooklyn.

Pratt in Venice inaugurated its celebrations in honor of the 35th year of the program with the exhibition Infinite Jest. Featuring the work of alumnae Monique Rollins (PiV ‘06), Hyewon Hahn (PiV ‘06), and Michael Brennan, the exhibition was curated by Martina Cavallarin and corresponded with the 2019 Venice Biennale.
